Located in the Fresh Food Market Hall outside Coles, Ferguson Plarre offer fresh and traditional English and Australian baked goods. With over two decades of experience in the food industry, Lachlan brings a wealth of knowledge to the bakehouse. Prior to opening his store at The Glen, Lachlan worked across various roles in the dairy and patisserie industries as a Supervisor and Product Line Manager. Although he enjoyed working in the food production industry, Lachlan later decided that it was time to undertake something new. “I always like a challenge” said Lachlan, “and I knew I wanted to do something in the food space where I could manage everything myself”.


After almost 18 months of searching for the right partnership, Lachlan came across Fergusson Plarre. “I chose to associate myself with the Fergusson Plarre brand because it’s a family owned business from Melbourne and it has a great reputation for offering amazing food”. And the food definitely lives up to its name. If you have a sweet tooth, you will fall in love with the various cakes on offer just by looking at them, with the vanilla slice being a crowd favourite. If you prefer something on the savoury side, you can sink your teeth into one of Ferguson Plarre’s 10 different freshly baked pies or try the English inspired tiddly oggies. For Lachlan, his priority is keeping his staff happy and engaged. “I do my best to provide a fun and caring working environment, and really believe in up skilling people. Everyone has a different career path but I still ensure I train every staff member on all the jobs a Manager would do so that they can take away those skills in life”. Even Lachlan’s wife, Katy, helps out on the weekends and does the bookkeeping for the business.
