Li Xiu Kitchen: From our family to yours

20 Mar 2018

From the sizzle of the streets of Beijing to Melbourne’s diverse and ever-changing culinary scene, Li Xiu Kitchen owner and chef Wei (or William, as he’s known by friends at The Glen) has transported the evocative flavours of his homeland right here to the Food Gallery.

A much-loved local institution, the Li Xiu staples of rich, sticky ribs, bubbling hot pots and sweet, salty fried noodles are at the same time familiar and exotic. Named in honour of his beloved grandparents, and working together with son David, Wei’s ongoing exploration of Chinese cuisine is very much a family affair. And he’d like nothing more than to invite you to taste the experience.

A tantalising mix of the old and new, traditional recipes are worked with until they become something fresh, inspired and nothing short of mouth-watering. Eaten alongside celebrated pan-Asian classics like teppanyaki chicken and fried rice, simple fare is elevated to the exquisite. Wholesome, authentic and flavoursome, Li Xiu Kitchen invite you to come along and share a meal together – from their family, to yours.
